Excellent for volume and a good hold! Blow dryer helps especially.

I was curious about this paste and how it would perform vs the different clays I've been using for the past 2 years, especially the Clutch XL.
The smell is light and good.
The hold is very good and you don't even feel it but its there.
The texture is nice and smooth without feeling rough.
The value is excellent, its a lot of product for a low price.
Volume is very good.

I use it on a dry shorter haircut and it holds all day! Works great with natural ingredients and it smells great!

Superb product!
Lightweight and all day control that feels airy in the hair, you can use this as a pre-styler, or post styler, or both.
It works superbly well on its own, or with Tidal Wave, for BIG volume!
Nice light ocean fresh scent, and it washes out super easily!
Wonderful!

This Sea Salt Paste is fabulous! Pre and post this product rocks. Light, fresh clean scent and the hold is firm yet flexible. Smooth, easy application. Great volume and texture. Everything I need in a product.

Creates good movement through my straight hair

Nice and pasty. Works great with wet hair and a little goes a long way. Works best on damp hair you don’t intend to blow dry and it has just the right amount of hold. It holds more than shadow, but not as much as clutch, but it’s way easier to work with and style.

I love this so much!!!

Ace of all trades: This is the most underrated hair product I've tried!!
So this paste offers phenomenal texture, killer volume, is an amazing prestyler, rinses with water, offers a good medium-firm to firm hold (depending on how much you use), VERY easy application and can be styled into damp hair or dry hair without losing any of the previously mentioned traits. Very user friendly and beginner friendly!! Most products may do 1-2 things, like for example if a product gives great texture, it's probably really sticky or hard to wash out; some products only give great results when applied only 1 way and if used any other way, it won't give the same results. If it rinses out, it probably offers little hold or if something has a great hold, it's got a hard application etc. This paste checks ALL the required boxes simultaneously, which is very really rare. Also the scent stays subtly present, just enough for you to smell it but definitely nothing that haunts your nose and causes you to sneeze (this is coming from someone with a sensitive allergic nose). The shine on this is a healthy matte finish
Now my preferred method of using this is to either throw 2-3 scoops into damp/semi towel dried hair right out of the shower and then air dry it and mess it up, or I blow dry after applying to damp hair and follow it up with an OB clay (cub and co Charcoal Balm works AMAZINGLY with this btw). I found that it works better when applied to damp hair than dry hair (probably the only product I can say that for, every other clay/paste works well the opposite way and I'm not a dry hair styler). Also this is probably the only product that actually GIVES texture when applied in wet hair; any other product quickly loses texture or becomes really sticky; this one doesn't (of course if you apply like 5 scoops into wet hair, it's obviously gonna get sticky, but that's besides the point). Regardless of the ways of applying, it always gives consistently great results; sooo extremely versatile in how you use it. And at the end of the day (or if you choose to sleep on it), it'll rinse out no problem with just water; no need for shampoo. The only thing I could hope for is a little more hold since it's at medium-firm if you apply 2 scoops and you need to play with the amount you apply and how you wet your hair is to find out what works for your style.
Also did I mention how great the texture on this is? The sea salt does wonders here; it legit makes you look like you got a fresh cut everytime you apply it. It's both coarse and fine, it doesn't get too dry to the point where you get a shit ton of flyaways and never gets sticky enough to the point where you can't finger comb it throughout the day. You'll surely get a few strays (keyword: strays, not flyaways) but they just add to the free and messy look that I go for. The hold endures fairly well throughout the day too; it's an ALL DAY medium-firm hold.
SR Northern Lights may have a great hold, great texture, great washability, but all that only works when applied in dry hair. Morrocanoil texture clay may have great texture and easy rinseability but tugs a lot in application and gets sticky. SR American Gardens gives a better hold, but needs to be shampood, gives little texture when applied in towel dried/damp hair and is too dry-flyaway-y. OB clays give great texture but may weigh down the hair. This paste gives all the benefits of any hair product you could think of (besides high shine pomades of course) without any cons

Sea salt products have never worked all that well for me in the past. With most texture sprays, my wavy hair usually ends up dried out and super tangled. I’ve found some success using some sprays on second-day hair to refresh it a bit, but my mileage varied outside of that. That knowledge didn’t stop me from purchasing this to “treat myself” after surviving multiple all-nighters during the spring semester of my first year in graduate school, and I’m glad that it didn’t!
(As a quick note, I ordered this product back in April and have been using it on and off extensively since then, with multiple different styling methods and hair lengths/styles)
Packaging (Large and in charge): This jar is a bit of a chunker It’s a black, flat, plastic jar reminiscent of some of the jars that companies like Blumaan and other YouTubers have used. The plus here is that it’s MASSIVE. The labeling itself is nice- fairly sleek and understated with nice silver accenting. I can dig it.
Scent (Fruity, complex, and salty, perfect for the beach): The fragrance on this product has notes of green mandarin, sea salt, coconut nectar, cactus, and amber. As you all know, I’m awful with describing scents. The mandarin definitely cuts through with a bright fruitiness without being too overbearing. You can definitely smell some sort of… saltiness? Kind of difficult to explain, but something definitely cuts through some of that sweetness. I know there’s a drink or some other scent that really reminds me of this fragrance, but I can’t put my finger on it. Regardless, I really like it, and I think it makes for a good beachy/summery fragrance. Also, you really don’t smell it after you’ve applied it into your hair.
Scoop/Breakdown/Consistency (Very similar to Monarch Matte Paste): I know my summary for this one doesn’t help much if you’ve never used Monarch Matte Paste before, but IYKYK. In my opinion, the paste scoops and breaks down super creamily with minimal tackiness. It’s very smooth with the slightest bit of dampness. I did note that there were a few bumps throughout the product (not sure if these were caused by the salt, waxes, or something else), but they all broke down without any issue; you could really only see them, not feel them.
Application (smooth sailing): The smoothness you feel while breaking the product down translates into a very smooth application. In damp hair, this goes in like a dream. In dry hair, it’s a very similar story. Virtually little to know tug or pull, so long as you don’t break the product down to the point that it’s pretty much half-evaporated in your hands. Like most other things, you can definitely get some tackiness if you go with wayyy too much, but the threshold to reach that point is high here.
Styling (sea salt results without sea salt tangling):
Pre-styling: This is another champion for my preferred method of going in with a large scoop into damp hair and setting the final style with my blowdryer. You get a great amount of responsiveness while styling, which aids in building volume. This product does a really great job of controlling the hair when you prestyle with it. It feels like you are getting the structure that you usually expect from a texture spray, but you are not having to deal with the dryness or tangling that often comes with many sprays. Seriously, this one offers some great control.
Post-styling: As I said before, while this product does not cause a whole lot of gripping, you do get a great amount of control. This translates well into styling. The product really lets you place your hair where you want it to go, again without any of the issues like tangling that come with sea salt sprays. I will note that if you’re someone with wavy hair, using too much of this in one scoop while post-styling will most definitely bring out some of your waves (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing!). Honestly though, if you prestyle with enough of this stuff, you really only have to apply a small amount at most to finish off the style.
Damp-hair styling: I got bored and threw this into damp hair one night before I went to bed. I found that doing this can definitely lets some natural waves out, and it also doesn’t get massively hardened up. You will get a bit of stiffness if your hair is overly damp when you apply, but this can always be broken up. I like this method, and I may use it a bit more once my hair’s longer again for some wavier lazy days.
Finish (salty texture, healthy matte finish): One thing that is again exceptional about this product is how great it feels in the hair despite being a sea-salt product. My hair ends up feeling great when I use this, with a natural/healthy matte finish. It provides a great amount of texture, and you can bring about even more as your restyle your hair throughout the day. This is seriously like the best of both worlds, exceptional texture without the expenses that often come with such texture.
Hold (Medium-firm to firm depending on usage): When I see products like this, I typically associate them with looser styles. This is definitely not a brute-force firm hold. It’s a product you can definitely get up to a firm if you are so inclined to do so (and with good results, I might add), but I think it functions best in that medium-firm range where you expect the slightest bit of loosening up. It’s definitely lightweight while providing an exceptional amount of control.
Volume (sea-salt volume babyyy): I might be sounding like a broken record here, but again, you’re getting the great volume you can usually expect from a sea-salt spray with an even better hold. Volume is definitely something this product does well, even when I was rocking my forward textured look past its prime length.
Endurance (literally defies what usually happens with sea salt): My hometown is close to a number of beaches and boardwalks. If you’re walking in the humid summer ocean air with wavy hair, you should expect the waves to come out. If you’ve used some sort of sea salt product, you can usually expect tangling and even more waviness. AGAIN this product goes against the grain. I’ve actually found that on damp rainy days or even some more humid days, my hair manages to avoid any detrimental tangling and instead get softer. It’s really cool to see this happen. As with most products in this hold range, you can expect a bit of breakdown throughout the day, but the volume and control will stay mostly intact and allow for restyling. Despite this breakdown, it still held up well against long, hot days, Baltimore’s unpredictable monsoons, and lifting and drumming sessions. Again, this is sometimes even more ideal with a product like this, because restyling will typically give you access to even more texture.
Washout (water mostly, shampoo/conditioner for the rest): No real issues here with the washout. Relatively easy, and, as I mentioned before, the product leaves your hair feeling pretty nice.
Final thoughts (an excellent addition to the Crafted line, and something you should consider picking up for sure!): If I my previous thoughts didn’t make it clear, I really enjoy this product; it’s a truly unique one! Here, you have an outstanding lightweight paste that performs exceptionally well and gives you all of the benefits of a sea salt spray without any of the potential negatives. I think Stephen was spot on when he said that this product was like his Tidal Sea Salt Spray in paste form. It’s truly a unique product, and it’s certainly one that receives a high recommendation from me. I'll definitely be checking out more from the line soon. Great work Wade and Stephen!

This product is the bomb!!! Easy to apply, great styling product and not heavy so it won’t weigh down hair.

Great product, exactly the type of hair paste I was looking for, easy to work into hair and good hold. I have fine hair and the sea salt paste gives the right amount of structure my hair needs. Will be trying more of the Salon guys products.

Fantastic product!

Sea salt sprays/hair products don't usually work on my thick, wavy, and semi-course hair. But this product knocks it out the park. It controls my poofy hair while at the same time giving it a textured, but relaxed type of look. My favorite so far out of the three "Crafted" products.

I use this in conjunction with the blow dry cream, thanks to a recommendation by Matt from TDM Style. I'm growing my hair out from a disconnected buzzcut (1 on sides, no fade), and I have tried various products as it gets longer. Right now it's about 4 inches on top. I've only used this product for a few days but so far it's the one that goes in the easiest, still gives me a great hold, and doesn't leave my hair feeling weighted down and heavy. It also washes out quite easily. Now if I could just perfect my blow-drying technique...

Gives great texture and a good natural hold. Can be layered into hair for a stronger hold and lots of texture. A little goes a long way, not heavy or greasy great stuff! Smells kinda like cinnamon rolls

This product is AMAZING! Goes through the hair so smoothly, breaks and scoops easily, washes out with just a rinse, and the hold is great. I have med length, wavy/curly hair and it kept It in place all day. High recommend.

Great hold and the just the right amount of shine.
