Having the right cut is the ultimate key but this product is very functional and efficient. I typically start with the 25 spray as a prestyler after my shower and light towel drying. I usually finish with the shadow cream to finalize the hold. It can start slightly waxy when you first put it in but after a couple of hours it dissipates leaves your hair feeling very soft and lush. If you have a hair style you want people to run their hands through than this is the choice for you. Smells good too!

I really need to say this because it’s genuinely frustrating. The scent of this product is overwhelming and unpleasant—it honestly smells like baby wipes, and not in a good way. It’s a shame, because the product itself had potential, but the fragrance completely ruins it. It’s also surprisingly strong and lingers far too long. On top of that, it makes my hair look greasy very quickly, even with minimal use. I actually ended up with a headache from the smell last night. Overall, I’m really disappointed. I hope future versions improve both the scent and how it performs on the hair.

If you have longer hair such as in your face or a surfer style you will love this product. Makes your hair feel silky soft and smooth. The conistency and texture of the product is amazing too. My hair is much shorter now so I don't use it as much, but it says it works well as a prestyler too. I will find a use for it regardless. It's a great product!

Works great and holds well without preventing the user from continually styling their hair as needed throughout the day (may need to add a little more product after a few hours). Feels and works similarly to a light application of hairspray with less mess and environmental impact.

The search is finally over with this product. I have spent so much money on other products, and I haven’t found anything as good as this. I’ve consulted with barbers, hair stylists and other experts to achieve the “next day, lived in, Kaye Dutton” look, and they all lead me to feminine products and sea salt sprays. This is my favorite look for manly long hair and I have a few more months of growth to get to my goal hair length and I plan to use this product the whole time. I love the texture and “lived in” look it gives. After I use Shadow to style my hair I finish the look with a waxblast finishing spray by Redken, for those of you wanting to achieve the same look. Love it, does exactly what I want and everytime I try something else I just come right back to Shadow. When I had shorter hair I used the Ice Pomade but as my hair grew out I now use shadow to tame it down. Hopefully it's here to stay!

I have short to medium length graying hair and it is on the coarse side. I use a pea size amount of Shadow in combination with "25" and as of now I am very pleased with the results.

The holy grail! I thought this product wasn’t for me because of my long hair touching my shoulders. And it seemed to be advertised for short to medium length hair. I usually use just 25 spray or other leave in conditioners. I stayed away from this because I thought it might make my hair sticky because of the hold it has, but boy was I wrong. Tried this on top of 25 spray and loved the result. It helped tame frizz even more it added shine. Best part is I’m still able to run my fingers through my hair very easily without any tugging. even with the light to medium hold this cream has it still allows the hair to move. The hold is great gives me more control for my hair. Short or long hair, I recommend this cream for anyone! Will be buying more when I run out!

I've had short hair for years decided to let it grow out but my hair is too fine and is kind of fluffy after a wash. but your pomade cream has advertised gives me that hasn't been washed in a few days feel and makes my hair feel like it has more volume and so far it's just what I was hoping and what I needed. this is a lousy photo but I like to offer feedback. thanks

It’s the perfect amount of hold, perfect amount of body, isn’t stiff or sticky, leaves your hair soft and manageable. The fragrance is quite pleasant as well which is always important to me. The product is easily reactivated with a little mist of water to restyle as needed. I absolutely love it.

I’ve ordered the shadow twice now and both times the tube had come open in the soft envelope and spilled out. Maybe put one of those protective seals that go under the caps the consumer peels off or put it in a box. Love the product though.

Gives you more of that “wet” look. Keeps the hair pliable while still maintaining style. I let it dry a little and use Locked spray to keep it in place. I’d like to see what it does if I were to use a hair dryer after applying.

Great for longer hair. Gives a good amount of body and hold without looking like you are wearing a “helmet” I recently went short and quickly realized Clutch XL was more appropriate. With both products, I give a good dusting of Locked spray to keep everything in place. Great, great products! Switching from Aveda products, I definitely think I found my new brand.

I have longer hair -- roughly the same length as Brad Pitt cut in World War Z or Keanu Reeves cut in first John Wick. My hair is very straight and also relatively fine, so it does not take much to weigh it down. It has been practically impossible to find a product that works at this length to let the hair fall naturally while also providing some structure. I've tried dozens of brands, from cream products with natural oils that can be way too heavy (and offer no hold), to others that are too light (almost like a thin hand cream), to still others that end up stiff, drying more like a gel than a cream. I'm frankly blown away by the Shadow product. I can add to my hair in small amounts after drying until I get just the right texture -- it basically allows me to instantly replicate the effect of natural oils accumulating over a day or two (which at this length makes the hair fall and behave much better than just showered hair). I can run my hands through my hair easily to adjust the style any time, and I've finally achieved that effortless look that I thought only happened in Hollywood. I've not used the product for the fully slicked back style normally associated with a product that is called a pomade (honestly this is not like any pomade I've ever used in terms of consistency), but I do have some formal occasions coming up and plan on giving that a try. Regardless, this product gets the very highest recommendation from me. BTW, I very rarely write reviews, but I am so delighted with this product that I wanted to share my experience.
